High School Spanish Teacher: Clayton-Bradley Academy

Clayton-Bradley Academy is seeking a motivated and experienced High School Spanish Teacher to join our team for the upcoming school year. This role provides a unique opportunity to guide students (grades 9–12) in developing proficiency in Spanish language and deepening their understanding of diverse cultures through meaningful communication, reading, writing, and interpersonal practice.

The position involves close collaboration within the Humanities and World Studies department to create interdisciplinary connections between Spanish, English, history, social studies, and project-based learning experiences that extend language learning beyond the classroom.

Responsibilities:

  • Teach Spanish 2, 3 and 4  courses, with potential to teach additional Spanish courses in the future.
  • Collaborate with Spanish teachers across all grade levels to ensure consistency in approach to teaching foreign language. Specifically, demonstrate a willingness to incorporate comprehensible-input strategies/methodology in the classroom. 
  • Collaborate with colleagues to design and implement interdisciplinary lessons and projects that integrate Spanish, English, history, and other World Studies content.
  • Build strong relationships with students to foster a positive and supportive learning environment.
  • Utilize brain-based research to inform pedagogy, classroom management, and learning environment.
  • Serve as a faculty advisor for an assigned group of students.
  • Write curriculum using appropriate standards, implementing Mastery-Based Learning through Standards-Based Grading.
  • Participate in professional development activities and contribute to a collaborative school culture.
  • Communicate effectively with students and parents regarding classwork, expectations, and upcoming events.
  • Uphold the school’s mission and vision, which focuses on student-centered learning, critical thinking, collaboration, and problem-solving.

What we are looking for:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Spanish, World Languages, Education, or a related field.
  • Preferred 3–5 years of classroom teaching experience in grades 9–12.
  • Strong proficiency in Spanish language and a solid understanding of language acquisition, including grammar, composition, interpretive communication, and the use of comprehensible input strategies to support student proficiency development.
  • Ability to effectively teach multiple courses and differentiate instruction to meet diverse learning needs.
  • Commitment to using research-based instructional practices.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
  • Passion for building positive relationships with students.
  • Proficiency in using Google Classroom for instruction and communication.
