TAIS PRIVACY POLICY & TERMS OF USE

This Privacy Policy and Terms of Use describe how TAIS collects, uses, and shares information through the TAIS website (the “Site”). This policy applies only to information collected through the Site and does not apply to information collected offline or through other channels.

PRIVACY POLICY

1. INFORMATION TAIS COLLECTS

  1. Information may be collected in two ways: (a) information you provide directly, and (b) information collected automatically when you use the Site.

2. INFORMATION YOU PROVIDE

  1. Information may include your name, mailing address, email address, telephone number, school/organization information, and other general background information submitted through forms, registrations, accounts, purchases, directory listings, submissions, or inquiries.

3. INFORMATION COLLECTED AUTOMATICALLY

  1. Technical information may be collected automatically, including IP address, browser type, device identifiers, domain names, access times, pages viewed, referring website addresses, and other usage activity (“clickstream data”). Technical information is typically used in aggregate to understand Site usage and performance. Certain systems may associate technical identifiers with account activity for functionality and security.

4. HOW TAIS USES INFORMATION

  1. Information collected through the Site may be used to:
    • Operate, maintain, and improve the Site
    • Administer membership services, registrations, payments, and related communications
    • Respond to inquiries and provide support
    • Share updates about TAIS programs, services, and opportunities
    • Monitor Site performance, analytics, and security
  2. TAIS may use third-party service providers to support member services and communications functions, including association management and email communications.
  3. Analytic tools (for example, Google Analytics or comparable services) may be used to understand usage patterns and improve the Site experience. Google Analytics opt-out options may be available through: https://tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout

5. HOW TAIS SHARES INFORMATION

  1. TAIS does not sell personal information.
  2. Information may be shared under limited circumstances:
    • Service providers. TAIS may share information with third-party providers that perform services on TAIS’s behalf (for example, website hosting, association management services, payment processing, email distribution, event registration, analytics, and customer service). Access is limited to what is reasonably necessary to perform services.

6. LEGAL AND SAFETY REASONS

  1. TAIS may share information if a good-faith belief exists that disclosure is reasonably necessary to:
    1. comply with law, regulation, legal process, or governmental request;
    2. enforce these Terms, including investigation of potential violations;
    3. detect, prevent, or address fraud, security, or technical issues; or
    4. protect the rights, property, or safety of TAIS, Site users, or the public, as permitted by law.
    5. COOKIES AND SIMILAR TECHNOLOGIES
      • Cookies, local storage, and similar technologies may be used to support Site functionality, remember preferences, understand usage patterns, and improve the Site.
  2. The Site may use “web beacons” (single-pixel images) to compile aggregated statistics about usage. Browser settings may allow cookies to be declined or controlled. Some Site features may not work as intended if cookies are disabled.

7. ACCESS, UPDATES, AND OPT-OUT

  1. Account tools may provide limited access to review or update personal information. Requests to access, correct, or delete personal information may be submitted using the contact information below. Identity verification may be required before completing certain requests.
  2. Marketing emails and newsletters typically include an unsubscribe link. You may also request to opt out by contacting TAIS at: tais@TAIStn.com

8. SECURITY

  1. TAIS maintains reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational safeguards designed to help protect personal information. No system is completely secure, and unauthorized access by third parties may still occur.
  2. Access to personal information is limited to employees, contractors, and agents who need it to perform services for TAIS and who are subject to confidentiality obligations.

9. CHILDREN

  1. The Site is not intended for children under 18 years of age. TAIS does not knowingly collect personal information from children under 18.

10. CHANGES TO THIS POLICY

  1. Updates to this Privacy Policy may be posted on the Site. Material changes may be highlighted through a prominent notice.

TERMS OF USE

These Terms of Use (“Terms”) govern your use of https://www.taistn.org (the “Site”). Use of the Site indicates agreement to these Terms and the Privacy Policy above.

  1. ELIGIBILITY
    Use of the Site is limited to individuals who are at least 18 years old (or the age of majority in the user’s jurisdiction, whichever is higher). By using the Site, you represent that you have the authority and capacity to agree to and comply with these Terms and applicable laws.

  2. USE OF SITE CONTENT
    TAIS authorizes you to view and access one copy of content available on or from the Site solely for personal, non-commercial use, unless otherwise authorized in writing by TAIS.

All text, graphics, images, logos, button icons, software, and other content on the Site (collectively, “Content”) are protected by U.S. and international laws. Content is owned by TAIS or its licensors.

Use of TAIS Content on another website or in a networked environment is prohibited unless expressly permitted in writing by TAIS.

  1. OWNERSHIP RIGHTS
    All rights, title, and interest in the Site and Content remain with TAIS and its licensors, including all intellectual property rights. Use of the Site does not transfer ownership of any intellectual property rights.

  2. SITE RESTRICTIONS
    You agree not to use the Site to transmit, post, distribute, store, or destroy material:

  • In violation of applicable law or regulation

  • In a manner that infringes intellectual property rights or privacy/publicity rights of others

  • That is defamatory, obscene, threatening, abusive, or hateful

You also agree not to use the Site in any manner that could damage, disable, overburden, or impair the Site or interfere with any other party’s use and enjoyment of the Site, and not to attempt to access materials or information through means not intentionally made available through the Site.

  1. SUBMISSIONS, SPONSORS, ADVERTISERS, AND PUBLIC POSTINGS
    If the Site allows submissions (including, without limitation, sponsorship materials, exhibitor information, directory listings, forms, or public postings), the submitting party is solely responsible for the content submitted (“Submitted Content”).

TAIS may require acceptance of additional terms for certain submissions (such as sponsorship or exhibitor agreements). TAIS may remove or restrict access to Submitted Content at its discretion.

By submitting Submitted Content through the Site, you grant TAIS and its affiliates a non-exclusive, royalty-free, worldwide license to use, reproduce, display, distribute, and adapt the Submitted Content for TAIS operational purposes and to provide Site and association services (including displaying sponsor/exhibitor information, directory listings, and related materials), unless a separate written agreement provides otherwise.

You represent that you own or have the necessary rights to submit the Submitted Content and that it does not violate applicable law or the rights of others.

  1. COPYRIGHT AGENT (DMCA)
    TAIS respects intellectual property rights. If you believe content on the Site infringes your copyright, a notice should include:

  • Your contact information (address, phone, email)

  • A description of the copyrighted work

  • The location of the allegedly infringing material on the Site

  • A statement of good-faith belief that the use is not authorized

  • A signature and a statement under penalty of perjury that the notice is accurate and authorized

  1. SITE MANAGEMENT
    TAIS may remove or restrict access to content at its discretion when content could create liability, harm TAIS’s reputation, or interfere with Site operations. TAIS does not have a duty to monitor all content and disclaims liability for failure to remove content.

  2. DISCLAIMER OF WARRANTIES
    THE SITE AND ALL CONTENT AND SERVICES ARE PROVIDED “AS IS” AND “AS AVAILABLE,” WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, TITLE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT. AVAILABILITY, SECURITY, AND ERROR-FREE OPERATION ARE NOT WARRANTED.

  3. LIMITATION OF LIABILITY
    TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, TAIS AND ITS AFFILIATES, OFFICERS, DIRECTORS, EMPLOYEES, AGENTS, AND SERVICE PROVIDERS SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, EXEMPLARY, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR FOR LOSS OF REVENUE, PROFITS, GOODWILL, OR DATA, ARISING OUT OF OR RELATED TO USE OF (OR INABILITY TO USE) THE SITE OR CONTENT, EVEN IF ADVISED OF THE POSSIBILITY OF SUCH DAMAGES.

  4. LOCAL STANDARDS
    Access to the Site occurs at your own initiative, and compliance with local laws remains your responsibility.

  5. THIRD-PARTY LINKS
    Links to third-party websites may appear on the Site for convenience. No endorsement is implied. TAIS is not responsible for third-party content, accuracy, or practices. Access to third-party sites occurs at your own risk.

  6. INDEMNIFICATION
    You agree to defend, indemnify, and hold harmless TAIS and its affiliates and representatives from claims, actions, liabilities, and expenses (including reasonable attorneys’ fees) arising from: (i) your use of the Site, (ii) Submitted Content, or (iii) your breach of these Terms.

  7. GOVERNING LAW; VENUE
    These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Tennessee, without regard to conflict of law principles.

Exclusive jurisdiction and venue shall be in the state or federal courts located in Shelby County, Tennessee.
