Summary:
The Oak Hill School seeks a creative and collaborative teacher for for prekindergarten through sixth-grade students.

Job-Related Responsibilities:

  • Introduce students to the joys and beauty of of this subject area or grade level
  • Use a variety of methods to assess student learning and to inform instruction
  • Provide differentiated instruction to meet the individual needs of students
  • Maintain accurate and complete records of students’ progress and development
  • Expand our students’ knowledge and appreciation of global cultures
  • Ignite a love of language in our students for enjoyment, enrichment, and advancement.

Specific Job-Related Responsibilities:

  • Teach 2nd, 3rd, and 4th Grade Music Classes
  • Teach 5th and 6th Grade Choir Classes
  • Collaborate and work with LS Music Teacher, Drama Teacher, and Ensemble Teachers when working on
    performances and services
  • Collaborate and work with Ensemble Teachers, meeting regularly to plan together.
  • Co-teach Acting Up (Musical Elective) with Drama and LS Music Teacher
  • Organize and coordinate Performing Arts performances throughout the year (ex. Christmas Coffee, Arts a la Carte, Grandparents Day)
  • Lead Flag Raising songs every morning
  • Lead Songs and Organize Music at Thanksgiving, Advent, Lent, and Chapel Services
  • Collaborate with the Drama teacher for the Spring Musical
  • Co-advisor for Upper School advisory
  • Arrival, Dismissal, and Lunch Duties as assigned

  • Learn and implement best instructional practices by actively taking part in professional development

  • Actively participate as a collaborative member of the enrichment/grade level team
  • Be a positive advocate of the school, both internally and externally

Work for this position will take place primarily in a classroom. Educational Background and Work Experience:

  • Bachelor or Master’s Degree in relevant subject area, OR, a Bachelor or Master’s Degree in Education
  • Orff Training, ideal but not required
