Major Gifts Officer: Baylor School
The Major Gifts Officer is part of the Office of Institutional Advancement and is responsible for cultivating, soliciting, and stewarding an assigned portfolio of donors capable of making major gifts to Baylor School. In that capacity, the Director of Major Gifts shall carry out the following duties:
- Work as directed by the Chief Advancement Officer to develop and set cultivation, solicitation, and revenue goals for each fiscal year.
- Manage an assigned portfolio of 75-150 major gift prospects with gift capacities of $5,000 and higher, securing commitments to the Baylor Fund, capital fundraising projects, and planned giving.
- Conduct at least 12 face-to-face meetings with assigned prospects each month, soliciting a minimum of 20 gifts of $25,000 or more each year.
- Assist as needed with the cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship of leadership level Baylor Fund Gifts.
- Collaborate with the CAO, Director of Major Gifts and Stewardship, and Head of School to plan and coordinate capital campaign prospect meetings.
- Attend all capital campaign leadership committee meetings.
- Document all fundraising activities in Raiser's Edge, completing thorough contact reports by the end of each week.
- Personalize gift recognition correspondence in a timely manner.
- Make travel arrangements as necessary, working within assigned budgets and submitting documentation for all travel expenses in a timely manner.
- Review and evaluate assigned prospects with the Chief Advancement Officer on a monthly basis.
- Attend and work to support school events as assigned.
- Provide information for reports to senior administrators and the Board of Trustees in a timely and efficient manner.
Qualifications:
• Bachelor's degree required
• Minimum of five years of progressive responsibility in development or a related (sales) field
• A documented record of successful major gift fundraising is preferred
• Ability to establish and maintain good working relationships with prospects and donors
• Ability to work effectively in a team setting
• Robust written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills
• Familiarity with fundraising databases (Raiser's Edge preferred) and the Microsoft Office Suite
