Cyber Ready: An ATLIS Leadership & Technology Workshop
Next Date: Tuesday, October 20, 2026
Event Details
Don't wait for a crisis to find out how your school would handle one.
Most schools don't find out where the gaps are in their cybersecurity plan until they're in the middle of an actual incident. By then, it's too late to practice.
This two-day virtual workshop gives your team the chance to work through a cyber incident together, before it happens for real. You'll test your plan, find the gaps while the stakes are still low, and leave with practices you can actually use.
Two days, two audiences, one shared plan
Day One: For Your Senior Leadership Team
Audience: Anyone on your school's senior leadership team — Heads of School, CFOs and Business Officers, COOs, Directors of Communications, Directors of Safety/Security, and other senior administrators.
Day 1 is built for your admin team to attend together. Cybersecurity decisions get made, or get stalled, at the leadership table, so this day gives your whole senior team a shared, working understanding of your school's risk. No technical background required.
You'll:
- See your team's results on the ATLIS Executive Cybersecurity Snapshot, a quick self-assessment built for exactly this conversation
- Hear directly from a Head of School and a CFO from other independent schools, sharing how they think about cybersecurity alongside everything else competing for their attention
- Work through a live tabletop exercise simulating a real cyber incident, then run your own version in breakouts — you'll make the same calls your school would actually have to make
- Get a plain-language briefing on cyber insurance: what's covered, what's excluded, and what your policy expects of you
- Leave with an introduction to your school's incident response runbook and a signed Commitment Sheet naming your school's next three priorities
Day Two: A Technical Deep Dive
Audience: All members of the technology team.
Day 2 goes deeper and more technical. It's built around the full ATLIS K-12 Cybersecurity Assessment — 75 statements across 9 domains, with peer benchmarking — so your team walks in with real data and walks out with a real plan.
You'll:
- Review your school's results against peer benchmarks across all 9 assessment domains
- Hear a case study from a fellow technology director about what a cyber incident actually looked like at their school, and what they learned
- Get briefed on newer risks, including unsanctioned AI tool use and deepfake or voice-clone fraud
- Learn practical data governance habits that keep school data complete, accurate, and consistent
- Get introduced to where physical safety and cybersecurity overlap, through the Standard Response Protocol
- Leave with a prioritized technical roadmap you can bring straight back to your team
Target Audience: Senior administrators — Heads of School, CFOs and Business Officers, COOs, Directors of Communications, and CTOs/Directors of Technology — for Day 1. The technology team should attend Day 2.
