February 20, 2009
8:45 a.m. - 2:45 p.m.
Harding Academy - Nashville, Tennessee

Presenter: Dr. Thomas Hoerr, Head of New City School in St. Louis, Missouri
"Leading from Behind: The Art of Divisional Leadership" will give current and prospective division heads a wonderful opportunity to explore the foundations of the practice of principalship that are critical to the success of a divisional leader.
The format of the workshop will be varied, hands-on, and interactive. The morning will be devoted to a keynote presentation that will include several interactive components. After lunch participants will form into two breakout groups, one led by Dr. Hoerr and the other by TAIS Executive Director Dr. Rich Martin, for an in-depth discussion of a chapter* from one of Dr. Hoerr's books that will expand upon the ideas presented in the morning session. (*The chapter will be emailed to participants upon registration to allow for advance reading.)
The workshop will close with final comments by Dr. Hoerr, a question-and-answer session, and a general discussion of the day's work.
